Union Budget 2022-23 Updates on Education and Health Sector

Education Sector

The Union Budget 2022-23 made crucial announcements for the education sector to overcome the formal loss sustained due to the COVID pandemic-

  •   Set up a digital university on a hub and spoke model.
  •   Implement a 1-Class-1-TV channel to enable the children to get supplementary education.

The government plans to make arrangements for the proper execution of educational activities to help students attain formal education.

Health sector

The Finance Minister further made announcements for a National-Tele Mental Health program to improve the access to quality mental health counseling and care services with the collaboration of IIT Banglore for the technical support.  She further rolled out an open platform for the national digital health ecosystem that would comprise-

  • Digital health registries of health providers and health facilities
  • Unique health identity
  • Universal access to health facilities

The Finance Minister laid focus on the aspirational districts that were lagging behind on health and other parameters. She said that special focus will be given to the aspirational districts that are not performing equivalent to the other districts despite various government efforts to ensure equal development across the platforms defined in their early phase of development.
